About

I grew up in the Florida Keys, where boats weren't a hobby — they were how you got around. From my earliest memories, I was on the water regularly, and that early immersion shaped the way I think about seamanship: methodically, practically, and with respect for what the ocean can do.

That foundation eventually led me to cast off the dock lines entirely. Between July 2024 and April 2025, I completed an extended bluewater passage aboard Searching for the Edge, a 50-foot Bavaria sloop from South Florida to Colón, Panama — covering roughly 3,000 nautical miles across the Bahamas, Mexico, Honduras, Colombia, and Panama. The passage included offshore Gulf Stream crossings, multi-day Caribbean legs, remote anchorages in the Bay Islands, and multi-country customs and immigration clearance. Along the way I managed a full electrical system overhaul, converting the vessel's entire internal AC system from 220V/50Hz to 110V/60Hz, including full rewiring of the AC circuit and shore power conversion and designing and installing a lithium iron phosphate battery system — work that reflects as much about how I approach vessel ownership as it does seamanship.

Before focusing on professional captaining, I spent years working in high-reliability industrial environments — first as a control room operator at a commercial nuclear power plant, then as a manager at a Meta data center. Both roles demanded the same discipline that bluewater sailing does: systems awareness, calm under pressure, and the understanding that small oversights compound into large problems. I bring that same mindset to every vessel I'm responsible for.

I hold a USCG Master's license (50 Ton Near Coastal, Sail) and am based in Bellingham, Washington, where I serve private owners and brokers throughout the Salish Sea, San Juan Islands, Gulf Islands, and Pacific Northwest coast. I am available for yacht deliveries, sea trials, seasonal runs, and vessel oversight for absentee owners.

If you're looking for a captain who treats your vessel the way he'd treat his own — because he has — I'd like to talk.
